Did you know that Martin Luther King was trying to organize an Occupy Washington DC in 1967? He didn’t call it that. It was called “The Poor People’s Campaign.”
-
What did Rev King say about corporations, about capitalism, about the 99%?
-
And what advice would he give Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Tacoma?
These are some of the topics I cover in this tribute to Rev King in my video, “What Dr. King Can Teach Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Tacoma.”
In 2010, for Martin Luther King day, I wrote a blog posting entitled “Martin Luther King Day, 2010”
In reviewing that posting, it becomes obvious that Rev King has much to teach us in the Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Tacoma movement. So, in honor of Martin Luther King Day, January 15, 2012, I revised the original post, updating it to apply Dr. King’s lessons to our movement. Rather than republishing it, I made a video of my speaking it.
You may refer to the original post for links documenting the facts and figure I use.
